Paw Tattoo

Jia is the best there is. Her shop is adorable and she makes you feel comfortable the minute you step in. Jia is very professional and ensures that you are getting exactly what you want. I have gotten two tattoos from her. One in her style (micro-realism) and one in fine line. While the fine line is in a hard spot to take a photo of on my own, it is just about 3 years old now and looks AMAZING (and I haven’t taken the best of care of it considering acne treatment and sun). My second tattoo with Jia just turned a year old and still looks fabulous (taking much better care of this one as well). I couldn’t be happier with it! I get to see my girl crystal clear every time I look down. I often get compliments on it and people cannot even believe it’s real! If you are on the fence on booking with Jia, I 10000% recommend you do. She’s amazing at what she does (and donates to her local animal shelter which is an added bonus!).

Such a good experience with the most beautiful tattoo. Everyone is shocked by the detail (including myself.) I get told by strangers it’s the best tattoo they have seen. The best thing is it brought a lot of relief and healing after I lost my dog, I truly feel like I still have him with me and love that people get to see him and ask about him when they see my tattoo. I am very grateful for it. (again my pictures don’t do it justice.)

I was honestly left speechless after my session with Jia. I had gotten a black and white portrait of my first dog, Bubbles from her on Bubbles’ 17th birthday anniversary (3/29). I’m finally getting around to writing this review because I just haven’t been able to put this experience into words until now. So far I have seven tattoos, including this one from Jia, and most of them were super uncomfortable and painful to the point where I felt like I might pass out, even the other ones on my forearm. I don’t know if it’s because Jia has a private studio for her work, the relaxing and vibey music she was playing, the fact that the table/bed she has you lay on feels like a fluffy couch, or maybe it was because her studio was the cutest and most aesthetic tattoo studio I have ever seen. The pink and neutral tones really gave me a feeling of peace while I was laying there getting tattooed. I fully expected the session to be 2-3 hours because of how insanely intricate and detailed Jia’s work is but I kid you not, once she started tattooing me it only took about 45 minutes for her to finish! I was so shocked that someone could create something with such precision so quickly. I also cannot express how grateful and thankful I am for being able to have this session on Bubbles’ birthday. When I filled out the form I wrote a note saying that I really wanted to do it on her birthday, but when I was choosing a date from the calendar there were no open slots for 3/29. To my surprise, Jia had reached out to me and offered me a time slot for that day because she noticed I chose a different day. I genuinely teared up a bit when she offered that, it meant the absolute world to me. I love the fact that Jia understands the deep connection and true love between a person and their pet. It truly makes the tattoo experience so much better. I wish this had been my first tattoo. It would have made it even more special. Thank you Jia! <3

Couldn’t have asked for a better tattoo experience! Jia was so kind and professional. I changed my mind about tattoo size and which picture to use quite a few times, and Jia was very responsive during that process. Don’t fret too much if you’re unsure about the size of tattoo. She prints out size options for you and you can decide at the studio. Her studio is gorgeous and her process is thorough. Highly, highly recommended!

Jia created a memorial tattoo for me and was help and kindness from start to finish. I had technical difficulties getting clear photos to her but it was no sweat for Jia, she made it work at the last minute. I was flustered but she took care of me. I depended on her expertise and recommendations as far as size and placement. My tattoo is still healing as it was just done yesterday but she appears to have done amazing work!

I searched around for the best tattoo portrait artist in the Bay Area for about a year before I came across a recommendation on reddit for Jia at Paw Tattoo. Checked out her website and her portraits were amazing so I signed up to get a booking. She books 2 months in advance so when they became available I immediately made an appointment. I had to submit a couple portrait samples when I booked and she responded right away. The follow-up and regular communication leading up to my appointment made me confident I made the right choice so I committed and made the $300 deposit. On the day of my appointment I was a little nervous, but when I got there, Jia and her co-worker greeted me so kindly and warmly I was instantly at ease. I had my dog with me and they were excited to see him. The facility is cozy and modern (so impressed with the high-tech toilet!) I felt like I was at a spa. After signing in on a tablet, she went over how I would like my tattoo: location, size, down to the smallest detail. The level of care she showed made me so excited because I knew it was going to come out exactly how I wanted. I swear I almost fell asleep during the process because I was so comfortable the whole time. It's a little expensive but If you want to memorialize your fur-baby with a tattoo you have to get the best, and Jia is that. I know I will be coming back if I need another portrait done. I would recommend her to all my friends.
